Using the Dance Maker App (Please see me if you cannot load this App on your phone) Dancemaker

  • Choose a Theme (or create your own)
  • Use Word Cloud (or create your own words) to generate four words for your word sentence.

Charlotte!!

I loved making this dance with the app! My sequence was:

  1. Crunch Body: each part sequentially, Effort: Boldly, Space: Backwards, Relationship: All by yourself

effort: boldly –>  shakily

2. Melt Body: leading with a body part, Effort: In a floating way , Space: Diagonally , Relationship: In a line

effort: floaty –>  sneaky

3. Smooth Body: In a round shape, Effort: Droopily, Space: On a middle level, Relationship: At a slow tempo

effort: droopily –>  squeezed

4. Dip Body: while expanding, Effort: Fiercely, Space: On a low level, Relationship: For an audience

effort: fiercely –>  bendy

ROW with your belly, softly, arythmically, on a middle level. WIGGLE each part sequentially, fiercely, in a specific place, upwards. SURGE while sitting, with your eyes closed, near yourself. DIVE in a twisted shape, suddenly, in a canon, towards someone. Then do it all again with the words: chomp, grind, disgusted, and saucy.

My theme was the Olympics. I JUMPED with my heel, suddenly, backwards, at a fast temp. Then I SPUN leading with a body part, confidently, close by myself, at a medium tempo. I also DODGED asymmetrically, in a wringing way, beside myself, with my eyes closed. Finally, I DIVED in a round shape, heavily, downwards, in a metered rhythm. Then I repeated my process proud, flinching, gliding, and soaring.

Theme: ASSEMBLY LINE

1A: PRODUCE, in a twisted shape, indirectly, scattered in the space, while going under.

1B: indirectly ➡️ flinchingly

2A: SEAL, in a narrow shape, in a bound way, copying someone, beside yourself.

2B: in a bound way ➡️ frolicking

3A: DICE, all parts simultaneously, in a wringing way, to the beat, in an angular path.

3B: in a wringing way ➡️ manipulating

For this piece my theme was Rainforest. The words and directions were as follows: Buzz, while retreating backwards, excitedly, near yourself, all by yourself, Drip asymmetrically, softly, everywhere at once, at a slow tempo, Branch, each part sequentially, in a punching way, along a curvy path, at a fast pace. The “buzz” was definitely the most difficult movement because I believed it involves fast short and quick movements. Dripping was also difficult but I had an easier time visualizing what I wanted to do. The branching movement was the easiest because it could be completed with long twisting hand movements.

In this piece I explored quality language. I performed each movement twice in a row, only changing the quality of the moves.

My theme was SNOW!

I melted with my chest indirectly, in a line, everywhere at once. I then froze in a narrow shape while slashing, while also making eye contact (hence looking in the mirror) away from someone (the someone is the audience). After that, I slid with a finger in a bubbly way all by myself while going (folding) over. Finally, I threw with my ear in a free flowing way, to music (in my head but music was also playing aloud) diagonally.

Renovate while rising, in a slashing way, somewhere in particular, to the beat. Groove with a hip, fiercely, upwards in a circle. Steal with your shin, droopily, everywhere at once, arhythmically.
